And there are actually a few paragraphs about men as well, regarding the topic of prostrate cancer. I lost an amazing friend to that horrible cancer in June, and an uncle and another friend recently were treated for it - I am concerned for my male friends as well as all the women in my life: mom, sisters, cousins, friends....and especially my DAUGHTER. I am so glad I read this book now....long before she reaches puberty so I can make healthy and safe choices for her regarding products she will be exposed to.
I am not recommending a page turning novel, but a jaw dropping women’s health book. One in which you may read a paragraph once or twice to be sure you grasp what is being said and the meaning of it, and because I want to commit it to memory.
This book could help SO MANY OF MY FRIENDS, and family members as well!! I am concerned because I have friends who get migraines, have thyroid issues, fibromyalgia, osteoperosis (this is NOT an old woman's disease), breast cancer, fibroid cysts, PMS (and it's not always easy for friends to deal with a friend going through that), night sweats and hot flashes (ummm, if you have ever sat across the book from me waving anything you can find because you are having an episode - you know who you are!) (LOL)
This could be one of the most important reads you will ever experience...a very important, perhaps life changing book. I am about 2/3 done and feel every woman should read it – they owe it to their bodies and family (because they would like you to live to a very old age I am sure!).
I am going to, not ask, but pretty much tell my doctor if she has not read this book that she needs to, for the benefit of her female patients. I can only hope she is well read on modern day treatments and not prone to yank out a uterus at the first sign of trouble. "Keep your uterus!" this book says, and it explains why. Unless you have cancer and it needs to be removed...but growths and a number of bodily mis-functions can be remedied without yanking out your girl parts. We're talking HORMONES here, ladies. We all have them and we all need for our hormones to be in balance, otherwise, we are cranky, have abnormal cell growth, and may actually get quite sick one day, even develop cancer.
The book is by Dr. John Lee – “What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Pre-menopause” – Dr. Jesse Hanley and Virginia Hopkins co-authored as well. I am actually putting it up on facebook tonight. Another book you should probably read is “what your doctor doesn’t tell you about menopause” – I am reading that one soon as well, but after I get done with another book recommended to me by a friend who had a friend gift it to her when he had cancer, and in fact gave it to all of his employees before he died. It is called the Culprit and the Cure.
I am trying to learn all I can because the company I am now consulting for has products that can change people’s lives, and has actually saved some. Dr. Lee and co-author are not affiliated in any way with this company, but I was told it was an important read. I am learning things I wish I had known at age 25. First, I wonder why my mother does not tell me these things, and I realize – because she does not know. Then I had to wonder why my doctors never told me, and it is either because they were ignorant of the facts or the drug companies have too many tabs on the medical profession. I have heard how drug companies have sales people that take doctors out for dinner and more to schmooze…I learned this from someone in one of my previous bible studies whose friend worked for a pharmaceutical company.
I hope, after reading this, you run to your library to check it out, or reserve it on line. If you utilize the South Central Library System, I know they carry it, and about a month ago I knew three ladies waiting to read it after a friend of mine did.
I actually purchased a copy from Amazon.com, which allows me to highlight certain parts. I have post it notes in several places with the names of friends for which the chapter applies to. I am seriously concerned for ALL OF YOU. We need to stop counting on our doctors, influenced heavily by the drug companies, to have our best interest at heart. We need to take control of our own health. You need to read this book, and have your eyes opened - your life could depend upon it! Serious...not get a copy and read!!!
I love you people...and I would like for you to remain healthy, or get there and feel good again.
Hugs,
Rita S.
I totally agree with your review Rita. I got the book from the library, but I need a copy to keep so I can keep referring to it. I think if every woman read it, they would understand their bodies better and I think EVERY doctor should read it and quit giving estrogen to everyone! Joylin
