HGH - Anti-Aging Hormone, What Are the Risks?

My husband said Dr. Oz was promoting HGH on his show the other day for reversing the aging process.  Having heard me question the "doctor knows best" beleif on numerous occassions, Jesse questions Dr. Oz and doesn't take his show verbatim. Afterall, drug companies are the primary advertisers that keep his show on the air.
A quick google lands on an excellent article by the Mayo Clinic - synthetic may have short term benefits for certain patients, but for heatlhy individuals - BEWARE! Here is an excerpt from the Mayo article...

What are the risks of taking human growth hormone if you don't need it?Human growth hormone may cause a number of side effects for healthy adults, including:
Carpal tunnel syndrome
Swelling in the arms and legs
Joint pain
Muscle pain
For men, enlargement of breast tissue (gynecomastia)
Human growth hormone may also contribute to conditions such as diabetes and heart disease.

And it continues, read the full article here: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/growth-hormone/HA00030

If you really want to reverse the signs of aging - chuck the gluten, reduce the acidic foods and eat a greater ratio of alkaline (think vegetables and  fruit), reduce inflammatory foods which not only include gluten, but dairy/lactose based foods, sugars, artificial this and that, and high amounts of caffeine.

When I hear the words "synthetic hormones" you can bet I run the other way - God's pharmacy is always best. As a friend reminded, and Dr. Joseph Mercola has written often, high-intensity workouts help increase the production of human growth hormone naturally in the body. Mercola, however, is not an advocate of hour long aerobic exercise.  Nor does Dr. Russell Blaylock believe in boot camps, which tear down the msucles and more importantly, the body's natural immune system.

Recently I have been reading about Mercola's 20 min. a day burst-a-cize style form of exercise, which I first learned about from Cambiatti Wellness several years ago when starting the AB 30 Day Feeling Fit program.  What I l ike about this is I may not have an entire hour to exercise each day, but I can find 20 min.  It can even be 10 min. several times a day - with the idea of getting your heart rating going for minute long intervals. I hope to start working this into my life fairly soon. There is more to it than that - and if you want to learn more you can google the new wave of burst-a-size formats that are popping up all over the country.

Fresh Snacks From the Garden

Our house is bare of the types of snacks children have come to love - ice cream, cookies, biscottis...so what do you say to a 9 yr old who is not happy because she is wanting an evening snack and there is nothing she likes available.
I suggested spinach leaves with dried cranberries rolled up inside - her own snack invention...she did that earlier in the day. I suggested the flax/quinoa seed crackers...didn't feel like it.
Then it dawned on  me - the garden! Surely the carrots, her very own row, must be ready or near enough. So out we went....with a hand spade in hand.  I dug up cute little carrots for her - she was delighted.  We picked lots of vine ripened tomatoes - orange heirlooms to Romas to an heirloom Russian variety that has a blush color. I accidentally pulled up a fairly large beet when pulling a weed...time to pickle!!
Abby happily washed up her carrots and didn't even mind taking out the compost. They were super fresh, flavorful and cute - about 4" long for the longest one.
I made myself a lunch plate of little tomatoe slices...one half seasoned with Italian seasoning, the other half seasoned with Celtic sea salt and black pepper. Yum!

I just came across a recipe for a power juice at Whole Living - made with beets, carrots and apple. I am going to have to give it a try since our garden can supply 2/3 of what is needed.
Credits to this juice blend - “Detox Cred: Antioxidant superstars, red beets contain betalains, compounds that fight inflammation and support your detox by neutralizing toxins and making them water soluble and easily flushed from the body. In one study, beet fiber increased the production of detoxifying enzymes in the liver.”

As I don't have a juice extractor, I will simply use my Ninja Pro Blender, which is an awesome smoothie maker, and probably go with a bit thicker texture and benefit from the additional fiber.

Red Power Juice
Ingredients:
-1 small beet, chopped
-5 carrots, chopped
-1 apple, cored and chopped
-1/4 cup fresh mint sprigs

DirectionsPress beet, carrots, apple, and mint sprigs through a juice extractor. Stir and serve immediately.
Another smoothie using the fresh carrots, also from Whole Living, utilizes mango and we happen to have that on hand as well. I wonder if I can talk Abby into this tomorrow morning...I will just blend the carrots in the Ninja blender and strain the pulp, or I should serve all of it as I firmly believe pulp has most of the nutrients and fiber we need.

Orange Fresh Juice
 Ingredients:
1 mango, chopped (or 1 1/2 cups frozen mango chunks)
1 cup fresh carrot juice
Dash freshly grated nutmeg
1/2 cup ice cubes (omit if using frozen mango)

Directions
Puree ingredients in a blender until smooth.

How is the harvest going from your garden? Include your children in the harvest and the taste of the vegetables will be enjoyed all the more!

To your health!

Statins Deplete CoQ10

In the past couple of years I have learned a lot about statin drugs - one of the greatest money makers for Big Pharma. I read once that the numbers acceptable for cholesterol show a  history of being dropped through the years as it was realized what a big business it was to prescribe.
Coinciding with the introduction of statin drugs, and increase in liberal prescriptions being doled out - was/is a steady increase in elderly having memory loss.  Why is this, we might ask... to explain it, today I am simply going to cut and paste from my e-news bulletin from Dr. Joe Mercola. I highly encourage you to subscribe to his e-news and it will give you the ability to search his site for a number of health related issues - from GMO to parabens, toxic baby care products to the benefits of short bursts of cardiac exercise.
Here is what he writes today:
  • One in four Americans over the age of 45 are now taking a statin drug, despite the fact that there are over 900 studies proving their adverse effects, which run the gamut from muscle problems to diabetes and increased cancer risk.
  • Statins deplete your body of CoQ10, which can have devastating results. If you take statin drugs without taking CoQ10, your health is at serious risk. If you have symptoms of statin damage such as muscle pain, take anywhere from 200 to 500 mg of CoQ10 or ubiquinol, which is the reduced form. Ubiquinol is the recommended form if you’re over the age of 25. For preventative use, take around 100-200 mg.
  • Statins also impair the function of all sterols, including cholesterol and vitamin D (which is similar to cholesterol and is produced from cholesterol in your skin), all your sex hormones, cortisone, the dolichols, which are involved in keeping the membranes inside your cells healthy
  • Odds are greater than 100 to 1 that if you're taking a statin, you don't really need it. The ONLY subgroup that might benefit are those born with a genetic defect called familial hypercholesterolemia, as this makes them resistant to traditional measures of normalizing cholesterol.
  • Statins are in fact classified as a "pregnancy Category X medication"iv; meaning, it causes serious birth defects, and should NEVER be used by a woman who is pregnant or planning a pregnancy.

  • What do you think? Safe? Beneficial? I think not.  Everyone gets to make a choice, but I am glad my husband chose to change his diet, take beneficial supplements, and got off the cholesterol meds. When we become empty nesters I want him to know who I am, and still be able to identify the bird calls and species that he is so skilled at.  Bird watching is something that has, in large part, been put on hold, but an activity that brought us together over 20 years ago and something we would very much like to do, and travel doing it to see some more exotic species, when we retire.

Fused Bluebird Chicks Due to Heat & Drought

Bluebird drought-induced "Siamese Twins". The drought brings trials to the midwest, not only to the farmers whose crops are most likely lost - but also for the birds. Yes, the birds. Not that I compare these challenges as being equal in importance on the grand scale of economical effect, but parenting songbirds are struggling to keep their babies alive in their nests with these 90 degree temperatures. I spoke to a local bluebird expert today, who stressed the importance of filling bird baths twice daily. Bathing parent birds can bring some relief to chicks in the nest.
Even though vented, bluebird boxes must get unbearably hot. Chicks are fledging before it is time due to the dire need to get out of the little "oven" in which they reside, per Ann. No doubt because of this, I received an S.O.S. call late this afternoon. I am not sure how many of my Purely Living readers know that years ago my husband and I raised parrots for a number of years. We've dealt with chick malformities, I've assisted our avian veternarian at the time on many occassions, and I learned how to medicate and handle chicks that were poor doers or needed extra TLC. I would like to say that I saved every one, but it is not the case, and my heart was broke a number of times after spending many sleepless nights tending to the needs of chicks every hour that were likely not going to make it. We had our victories, however, which was sweet!
We are still known as "the bird people" to many, and are often called for nature's mishaps of songbird chicks being found from the nest and in a predicament. We are not wildlife rehabbers - which is where the chicks often end up going.
I received such a call from my cousin-in-law, Linda, this evening. Two baby bluebirds were found in her yard as she was bringing in laundry. The chicks were struggling in the grass, one dragging another. As it turns out, their legs were fused - connecting them as if they were "Siamese twins". It seemed as though the extreme temperatures melded their legs together while snuggled in the nest.  The parent birds were nearby and keeping an eye on things when I arrived to find the baby birds in a shoebox with a lid, as I instructed to help keep them calm.
Can you see the situation in the photo? It seemed like tissue or ligaments held the legs, like sinewy thread. Unsure what I would need prior to arriving, I packed up AB Rescue Wash, FC5 Skin Conditioning Oil, toothpicks, cotton tipped applicators, a small container, water, and paper towel torn into smaller pieces.
When I called the bluebird expert she explained how feces from the babies in the nest can create a "cement" that can fuse chicks together, which is why she checks and monitors nestboxes frequently. I figured I would be cleaning up dried poop, even my cousin described it as "skin fusion". My cousin was right - there was very little dried feces involved in the situation.
I talked my 14 yr. old son into coming along - I knew I would need someone to hold the magnifying glass no matter the situation.
Before starting the procedure I called Ann to give her an update, and she explained how bluebird chicks, unlike most songbirds, are cared for by the parents for two weeks once they fledge from the nest. Our goal, if we were successful in separating the chicks, was to return them to the pine tree from which we thought they had come, as it was dead at the top and had a small cavity. For those that are not aware, bluebirds are cavity nesters and rely on nestboxes, as many years ago they would nest in rotting wooden fenceposts. Once farmers switched to the metal fence posts, bluebirds lost their nesting sites and became much more scarace.
I showed Linda how to hold the birds in a light cloth, keeping their heads covered to reduce stress, and ensure no pressure was put on the crop which would cut their air supply. They really did not struggle, which was  a great help. We prayed over the situation prior to starting our little operation - no doubt God had a hand in calming His creatures as we tried to help them.
I added Rescue Wash to to a little water in the dish and dabbed a paper towel into the solution, squeezing drops onto the fused area - to ever so slowly loosen up the sinew, or whatever, that was fusing the legs together. I was just grateful they both had two legs and that it was not a case of true "Siamese Twins" sharing a body part! I have heard of that in the animal world. Because of its detox properties I figured the Rescue Wash would cleanse the affected area as I worked with our little feathered patients.  Using toothpicks and Q-tips, we made slow progress. We did find some dried on "fecal cement" that had to be cleaned. As we progressed, what we discovered was a fine thread, like a horse hair, wrapping the legs together. We had to take a break while we found a small, fine tiped scissors to get into the very tiny area - it was like stitch ripping a seam, but OH so carefully!  Our son helped with this part, while I held the birds for the delicate procedure, and Linda held the magnifying glass.
Once we had separated the two, it was obvious one chick's leg had fared better than the other. Cleaning up the leg of the one chick, we applied a grape seed extract anti-biotic that Linda had, and "patted it dry" with a Q-tip. I applied FC5 skin conditioning oil to help heal the skin, as I have seen some pretty amazing testimony pictures after a bike rider had a bad fall and road rash that had become infected. If it works for us humans, I figure it should help these little birds!
The second chick still had some fine "thread" wrapped on his leg, and major swelling. We could also see how the hair had wrapped so tightly that it had cut off circulation, and it also seemed like it had cut to the bone. We allowed him to rest in the box a couple of times and we could see the leg was highly favored.
We were not sure the second chick would be able to perch on a tree branch. Linda retrieved a ladder/scaffold from the garage, which was a confusing mechnism. She went in the house to ask her father how to open the ladder - and it was then we learned there was a bluebird box. Sure enough, we found it in the neighbors yard and this is from where they came. What a relief! We we trying to figure out how high Kyle would be able to climb and set each chick securely on a branch. I was certain the second chick would not balance well and fall right back to the ground.
We knocked on the neighbor's door to get permission to inspect the nestbox, which was empty. They had been watching the parents take food in on a regular basis. As Ann had explained. I cleaned out the top portion of the box, removing some nesting material with fecal matter to provide not only a more clean environment, but it lowered the chicks from the exit hole as well - I figured they would need more time in the nest for their legs to heal and I did not want them to climb out again before they were ready. Fresh grass was added on top to give them a soft, clean bed. I hope the parents do not mind the intrusion of tidying up their home!  We replaced the chicks, snapped their photo one more time and closed it up.
I asked the neighbor children who had come over to watch us work on the 2nd chick, to keep an eye out for the chicks leaving the nest. I do hope they make it!
Bluebirds are such beautiful creatures, one of our favorite songbirds. Even though their need arose just as I was about to work on a project I had wanted to get to all day - I would drop everything again to come to the aid of a feathered friend, even a sparrow. God knows when a sparrow falls from the sky, and if we find them I am sure He is pleased when we come to their aid.
To your health, and theirs, may it rain and may the Lord grant us relieve from the unusual midwest heat.

Color Your Plate!! Forget the FDA Food Plate...

It's summertime! With farmer's markets, home gardens and roadside produce stands there is no better time to start incorporating a healthy eating plan. When the FDA released it's newer, modern food plate in 2011 I was actually shocked by the proportions shown on the plate. This is NOT how we teach our own children to eat.
The FDA plate contains, in a nutshell, too many grains. Most households will throw a slice of bread or pasta in that "section" of the plate thinking it is all good for their children and themselves. When in fact, the "grain" being incorporated into the typical American diet is, in all liklihood, sourced from processed refined flours vs. whole grain products that are comprised of 4-5 ingredients. What this means in easy to understand terms - is that these types of grains are classified as SIMPLE CARBS. Now, don't get me wrong - we need carbohydrates for our bodies to function - but we need COMPLEX carbs.
What's wrong with simple carbs, products made from processed and refined flours, hydrogenated oils, etc. you ask? Basically, these foods are major contributors to Type II Diabetes, high cholesterol, hardening of the arties and blockage, heart disease and more.  (Dr. Russel Blaylock, Blaylock Wellness Report Newsletters) Because simple carbs are processed the same as table sugar in our bodies (Dr. John Lee "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Breast Cancer") it promotes and fuels cancer cell growth. There are  many reasons to reduce simple carbs in one's overall diet. Another one is its contributory factors to auto immune diseases, gluten in particular. Once a family staple in our household, I would guess we have not served pasta in our home for at least 18 months. Once fooled by the "whole grain" varieties, label reading helped me realize that those, as well, are made with processed, refined flours.
That's not to say we go completely without.  Sundays are set aside as a day to enjoy a bakery item - such as a muffin or pastry, made with refined flour, sugar and omega-6 oils (I am reading a lot right now on Omega 6 and Omega 3 oils and surely will share more about that in a future post.) Eating clean 90% of the time allows us to deviate and maintain our weight losses, and continue to keep us free of Rx and OTC drugs.
There is a lot more I could go into regarding the FDA's attempt at create a balanced food plate diagram. Even though it is posted in our children's classrooms, we let our kids know that it does not mean it is accurate in portraying a healthy eating lifestyle.
There is no better time than the summer season to cover 1/2 to 2/3 of your plate in non-starchy vegetables, which contain good carbs. Greens and vegetables are GOOD FUEL for your body and give it the energy it needs. These foods are alkaline based, and when consumed in a ratio that is greater than acidic foods (such as dairy and meat food groups) it will help you lead a life in which you will feel better, look better, enjoy increased clarity of mind and energy.
Below is a sample of a Heatlhy Living Dinner Plate I created after listening to Dr. Molly Geil give a talk on a 30 Day Detoxification/Feeling Fit program. I created this mostly to post on our refrigerator to keep us accountable for food serving proportions, along with ideas for each section in order to assist my husband who is home first weekdays, and typically puts our dinner together. There is an entire booklet available for anyone who does wish to detox or eliminate foods they may be allergic or sensitive to in order to determine what is causing their aches, low energy, weight gain, etc.  The page goes into a detox plan a bit as well, but primarily - the idea was to provide a healthy living food diagram. Our family has incorporated much of the information in this booklet into our day to day living, and the page below simply makes a great "cheat sheet".
Currently, if your plate is all protein, then by all means - start with the FDA plate to steer you in the right direction. However, if you experience any of the simple carb related ailments then I would encourage you to shift gears and color your plate - there is no better time to start than when fresh produce is readily available!

    Too Young

This night I post after a long day ...just to reiterate how much I hate cancer. It took the life of a beautiful women today. A childhood friend... a mother, a person who made others smile and feel welcomed. And although I cannot even begin to understand why some are called Home so young...and we humans cannot control such things...  I do know that our health care system is not up to par when compared to the European countries. I know, that may seem like a strange statement, but I am angry about the death of this women and the path of health care given given years ago.
Sometimes traditional medicine is not in our best interest...not because it is intentional, but because doctors may not know any other way...as education comes from the drug companies, per Dr. Stacey Bean, Dr. John Lee, Dr. Joe Mercola, Dr. Russel Blaylock, Platt, Weil...and a host of others who repeat this time and time again in their books, newsletters and other resources. (I'm an avid reader of health and wellness.)
If a young woman has polycystic ovarian syndrome - too often the answer is a hysterectomy. The after affects of this procedure are typically comprised of a form of Hormone Replacement Therapy - aka HRT.  HRT is linked to a multitude of side effects, some may be minor, but others, such as cancer...can be fatal.
I'm speaking to the ladies reading this post.... be on guard for your own health's sake!!  Do NOT take everything your doctor states as truth...it may not be, but it may be all they know. Doctors are busy people...they do not have time to study outside the realm of their practice, other than what drug companies provide on their latest products. Unless, as some do, they take the initiative and sacrifice perhaps family time to read up on the latest information that may not be published in the American Journal of Medicine. Drug companies have a say in what is published in medical journals as well... per Dr. John Lee, they have a hand in keeping natural healing remedies out of these journals...the fact is, natural does not sell Rx.
Only synthetic, drug company derived prescriptions can make their company money - not God's healing medicines of herbs and other botanicals. The Creator has given us a virtual medicine chest...and there are those well versed in botanicals and science that can take plants, combined with science, to make a bio-identical product that mimics what the body produces...when our bodies fail to produce enough.
In case you are not aware, I am talking about BIO-IDENTICAL HORMONE REPLACEMENT THERAPY, or bHRT.  In regards to my friend, it is possible progesterone could have taken care of her problem back in her 20s, vs. the operation at age 32 that may have been the catalyst for what was to come.
I can't do anything about the past, but I can continue to answer the call to educate as many as will listen, or read, about the benefits of progesterone cream.
An excerpt from an article on uterine cancer: "We know now that progesterone deficiency is linked to an increased risk of cancer. Uterine cancer, for example, is known to be caused by unopposed estrogen. That’s why women who have an intact uterus and take estrogen replacement therapy must also be given some form of progesterone to oppose estrogen and reduce this risk. This is generally given in the form of synthetic progestin (that carry health risks) designed to block estrogen effects, but differs considerably from the molecule that is human-identical progesterone."

To explain this, I would encourage you to read the entire article offered by one of my go to sources:
    http://www.natural-progesterone-advisory-network.com/endometrial-uterine-cancer-and-natural-progesterone/

Please understand I am not bashing the medical profession...doctors do as they are told and educated by those who they must answer to, which is probably the hospital that employs them, and hospitals benefit with Big Pharma "partnerships". If you ever have a chance to talk with someone who USED to be in pharmaceutical sales...you will understand. For many, their hands are simply tied.
You don't have to go to med school to be your own best health advocate, but you do need to read and learn. What are you willing to give up to take charge of your health? A weekly television program, reading "shades of gray"...such things are not life changing past times, correct?  If you take some time to explore the web site I link above - I suspect you will find the time spent life changing, it could even save your life, or certainly improve it.
My passion is educating family, friends, strangers...seriously, I will talk to anyone who will listen about bHRT. It certainly has contributed to my own well being, and I have had so many women share their testimonies about the improvements to their overall well being once they discover bHRT - aka USP certified bio-identical progesterone transdermal cream.  Obviously I cannot convince everyone, especially those in the medical profession. Often there is no interest until cancer hits home. Then, perhaps, this information will be of interest, and unfortunately it can be too late.
Please look into it, contact me if you have questions on this subject and I can probably send you documents, links to articles, etc.  As a reminder, I am not nor do I profess to be a doctor - I simply pass along information from those doctors who HAVE taken the time to study that which is not taugh in med school - bHRT. I may not have MD credentials...but frankly, I know more on this subject than those with credentials. Sadly, it does not qualify me to educate family members of those affected by cancer at a local organization geared toward serving families with cancer...the irony of it all.
Our families deserve us, don't you think? I am doing all I can to be around for my children. No, I cannot control my fate, but I can be proactive and make wisened decisions for my own healthful benefit. I hate cancer and hate that it rips families apart. Please be pro-active in  your own health care.

In honor of heaven's new angel, God's peace,
    Rita S.

    Should I Try Miracle Whey?

Ideally, we would eat a whole, raw food diet for each and every meal. Whole food nutrition is always best, but for a busy lifestyle, it is not always practical. For my family, protein shakes are the “easy button” that allows us to make a fast, healthy choice in our rushed mornings.
Today, I decided to compare my morning Essential vegan protein shake made with pea/brown rice/cranberry protein to whey based Miracle Whey. Should I consider switching brands? Afterall, both contain 100% of the essential amino acids, and Dr. Mercola, whom I respect, is an advocate for Miracle Whey.
I listened to his video, and definitely agree with him that whey protein isolates have detrimental, long term effects – the processing of these proteins, done with acids, makes them “putrid” as described by Mercola. It is a very acidic product. His product, like the brand I use, is cold processed, and maintains the integrity of the original whole food sources.
An obvious difference between the two is the type of proteins, one being lactose based and the other vegan. People have told me they have a bloated feeling with whey protein, including a top brand called Dream protein.  For many, dairy and lactose based products are difficult to digest.
Personally – my husband and I both find our joints are less noisy when we avoid dairy. Many people do not realize that having a food allergy and food sensitivity are different, yet both affect the body.  An allergy, as you might expect, causes one to have a very apparent adverse reaction. A food sensitivity, on the other hand, may cause minor symptoms that a person may not even realize, or attribute, to a type of food. That is, unless they eliminate the food for several weeks, ideally a month, and note the improvement and recurrence as soon as the food is reintroduced to the diet.
For my husband and myself – our joints, the ol’ knees in particular, become much more noisy when we consume dairy. Dairy products, in general, are inflammatory.  Since eliminating dairy milk from my meals I no longer have acid reflux, which was pretty bad during the night.
As I understand it, Miracle Whey is made from whey derived from grass-fed cows, and I believe this then would be anti-inflammatory as the whey contains CLA, which is a healthy fat. Therefore, I cannot choose between the two based on inflammatory properties, as I believe both protein powders have anti-inflammatory properties. I'm not a scientist, so don't quote me on that...
Regarding purity, both are free of trace metals and other harmful ingredients. Trace metals, which build up in the body and contribute to a toxic inner-body environment, are found in many brands found in chain nutrition stores, and off your grocery or drug store shelves.
On a pH scale I would believe Miracle Whey to be further down the acidic side of the scale than a vegan protein – I would actually have to obtain a Miracle Whey sample and test it with one of my pH strips to compare. Because my eating lifestyle is cancer preventative focused – my goal is to eat as much on the alkaline side as possible in hopes of achieving a neutral body pH. This is speculation on my part, so I may actually have to spend some money on obtaining Miracle Whey in order to place a pH strip in it.
I printed out the Miracle Whey ingredient label and compared side by side. Caloric intake per serving is the same at 160. Calories from fat – again, both match at 30, however, here the difference is the vegan shake does not contain any saturated fat or cholesterol.
Miracle Whey delivers 32 grams of  protein and 0 fiber, whereas essential protein delivers 20 grams of protein, but does offer a smidgen of soluable fiber at 1 gram.  On this note I will say that Mercola recommends Miracle Whey as a post-workout recovery shake, and not necessarily a meal replacement; whereas the product I use is a meal replacement, and satiates for longer periods when I add a scoop of soluable fiber that is both tasteless and non-grainy.
The real skinny on the comparison takes place when I compare vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants. Truly, there is no comparison in this regard. With Miracle Whey one gets calcium, of course, some iron, and potassium. That’s it.
With my current brand I get a broad spectrum of 20 essential vitamins and minerals, including A, complex B, calcium, and magnesium, the latter of which is deficient in every cancer patient. My shake contains no iron, which I prefer, as Americans consume too much iron and iron toxicity is being linked to cancer, and is a hot topic on the cancer prevention front currently.
What really sets my morning protein shake apart, however, are the anti-oxidants, and for me – trying to live a cancer preventative lifestyle – anti-oxidants are critical in renewing health on a cellular level. A few of the anti-oxidants I consume every morning in my shake include CoQ10, selenium, and has added benefits of alfalfa, kelp and ginseng root powder.  (All non GMO, of course.)
In summary, although I am curious about Miracle Whey, I am already experiencing great benefits with my vegan pea/brown rice/cranberry based protein powder.  My doctor is very pleased with my “age reduction” that goes hand in hand with my 85 lb. weight reduction. My shakes taste great, and I have already tasted a premium whey protein side by side before that was just awful, and cost $30 more per container for the same amount of servings. I cannot imagine Miracle Whey is really going to taste any better than the other whey product, and certainly not as good as the one I am using.
Perhaps I should follow my dad’s advice from my childhood, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
    To your health,
    Rita S.
