Since incorporating quality supplements into our family grocery budget we have been able to eliminate all OTC and RX drugs. In the past 3 years sick days total maybe two for adults, and 4 for the kids. Our key brand of supplement has an ORAC score of 8-10,000 - bio available and absorbed in 30 minutes. We are pretty healthy eaters, with limited processed foods.
Purity standards should also be taken into consideration. Inexpensive vitamins contain fillers, and petro-chemicals, artificial ingredients are commonplace. These types of ingredients contribute to endocrine disruption/hormonal imbalance. Not to mention we are flushing our money down the toilet.
Even with an organic whole food diet, the nutrients are not what they used to be in our food supply. Our soils are depleted of nutrients. Since I began studying cancer preventative/alternative health four years ago - you will not find one holistic cancer treatment protocol that does not include supplements. In fact, the list can be quite long for cancer patients incorporating nutrition protocols into their treatment plans. Patients using supplements fare far better when used in combination with conventional treatments.
The goal of supplementation, of course, is to fuel the body with nutrients and oxygen to maintain, and even reverse the start of disease (including cancer cells - if you are past 30 you can be you have them - a healthy body has the function of apoptosis - programmed cell death - to eliminate these cells).
Toxin elimination also needs to be a part of remaining healthy. Another subject, but it is important to keep the liver functioning at optimal levels as it is your filtering system.
A functional medicine/holistic wellness practitioner can test you for deficiencies. Not everyone is short on calcium. If colon cancer is a part of family genetics or a concern, one will want to monitor and ensure adequate calcium. Certain forms of calcium are recommended for absorption, as well as other vitamins/minerals for a synergestic effect.
Omega 3s are one supplement that many consider the most important. If you take only one supplement, choose Omega 3 with DHA. Ocean contamination is a very real issue, even more so since the Japanese nuclear disaster. Personally, I opt for a vegan flaxseed oil based Omega 3 in which the sea algae (which provides the DHA benefit) is grown in an environmentally controlled lab to ensure purity standards are adhered to. I encourage you to investigate the purity standards of any brand you consider. Oils should be cold processed and preserved with nitrogen.
Confused by the choice of fish vs. vegan Omega? During the Curing Cancer Summit 2014, taking place right now, Dr. Leigh Erin Connealy stated that the latest research indicates that a vegan, flaxseed oil based Omega 3 is more effective in cancer treatment protocols. Personally, if it is good enough to fight cancer, why wouldn't I choose the flaxseed O3 over fish and krill?
Magnesium deficiency is, across the board, a common deficiency in breast cancer patients, according to a report in the Blaylock Wellness (Russell Blaylock MD) newsletter. The same holds true for prostrate cancer.
I have not actually read anything specific about people being prone to Vitamin C deficiency, but with upcoming winter months it is definitely worth considering. Lypo-Spheric Vit. C (specifically by Livon Labs) is the number one choice for those battling cancer, per Bill Henderson in his book, "Cancer Free". It is a gel pack and considered to be highly bio available...even more beneficial than Vit C IV therapy. I can't say it tastes awesome, but it can be mixed into other foods/drinks.
A supplement many overlook but definitely to be considered, in my opinion, is Vitamin D. Doctors in Florida have reported over 90% of their patients deficient. Consider our lifestyles - most people are indoors in offices by day. Vitamin D is actually a hormone, not a vitamin, and is critical for other hormones to be produced by the body. A healthy person can snythesize D2 into D3 (D2 is a vegan form), but if health is compromised one should utilize D3.
Although there are many who warn of Vit.. D toxicity...you can search this subject in PubMed and find not one case...but instead, the astonishing benefits of high doses of D3. I am currently reading a fascinating book on the miraculous benefits of extremely high doses of D. Vit D must be taken with K2. ZRTLabs.com offers in home test kits for a variety of deficiency concerns, hormonal imbalances, including Vitamin D as well.
May you feel great, look great and live great,
Rita S.

Colon Cancer Prevention: Part 2
I utilized a number of sources in pulling together these suggestions – some of it may be old news, some may be new. Here’s to regularity:
1. Fiber Intake It’s no secret that the American diet lacks fiber. How many of us consume 5 servings of fruits and vegetables each day, as recommended? One serving equals one cup of fresh fruit, or a tennis ball sized piece of fresh fruit, or ¼ c. of dried fruit. Dr. Russel Blaylock, a neurosurgen who reports on the latest in holistic cancer research and health news, recommends blenderizing your vegetables. I have found that I can toss frozen cauliflower, broccoli or fresh kale and spinach into my non-soy, vegan vanilla protein shake, with strawberries, and not even taste the “greenies”.
It is recommended to consume 25-35 grams of fiber per day. One source states women can consume on the low end, and men should be on the high end of that figure. I add 12 grams of soluable Fiber Boost to my protein shake each morning, and actually, since I started putting this article together a few weeks ago I am adding in a bit more. Blaylock does state that all fiber supplements are not necessarily beneficial, and one should look for “resistant starches”. He recommends fiber sources from apple, citrus and lentil peas. Apparently, the pectin from these sources and other fruits, when fermented in the colon produce butyrate, which is vital to the health of the cells lining the colon.
2. Probiotics/Prebiotics/Enzymes A number of studies indicate the importance of healthy gut flora in reducing the risk of colon cancer. Unfortunately, when we take anti-biotics we are killing off our good gut flora as well as the bad. Since our body does not replace probiotics we need to supplement to do so, and find a source that includes a robust strain with prebiotics so it can actually pass through the stomach wall and get into the intestines to do its job. In addition to probiotics and prebiotics, digestive enzymes diminish as we age, and it is important to replace them. A lack of enzymes results in esophageal reflux, and an excess of undigested food in the colon, which increases colon cancer risk.
3. Omega 3s – studies have shown that a high intake of Omega 3 fats substantially lowers colon cancer risk. The type of fats we consume have a great impact on our chances of developing cancer. Blaylock’s report states that studies have shown that omega-6 fats (corn, soybean, safflower, sunflower, peanut, grapeseed?, and canola oils) dramatically increase the risk of colon cancer, and turn existing cancer cells into very aggressive, metastasizing cancers. Blaylock goes on to state that this is evident in all cancers. Americans consume 50% more Omega 6 than are needed for good health. (Considering that almost all processed foods contain Omega 6 this should not come as a surprise, should it?) I have done some research on the vegan (non-animal) Omega 3 oils in the supplement that my family uses: which contains flax seed oil, and DHA from labortory grown sea algae to insure purity and non-ocean pollutants and contamnation/...the more I learned about benefits the more impressed I became. Our omega 3 is more powerful than 4 salmon steaks, as it has a very high ORAC value. What I do know for certain is our Omega 3s helped my husband get off his statin drugs and our joints feel better as well. Omega 3s are necessary for heart, brain, joint health, as well as cancer prevention. It is the single most important supplement you can take in addition to a QUALITY multi-vitamins. (one a day types don't cut it folks!)
4. MODERATE Exercise – walking weight resistance training, raking the leaves and mowing the lawn are all good forms of exercise. And right now, shovelling snow in Wisconsin! Highly aerobic exercise, per doctors Lee and Blaylock, increase the free radicals and peroxidation in your body, and neither doctor recommends it, especially for cancer patients and survivors. Aerobic activity increases prolonged increases in metabolism – a process which is a major source of these harmful chemicals. Lee had discussed this in further detail in his book about breast cancer, stating that cancer survivors who compete in triathalons and climb mountains are doing themselves more harm than good.
5. Diet – Avoid processed foods. Learn to read labels – which scream “Good Source of Fiber” only to be laden with refined carbohyrdrates and fats, which are highly inflammatory. High fructose corn syrup and MSG abounds in processed foods...contributors to cancer and brain and heart related diseases.
Avoid most vegetable oils – known as omega 6 (N-6). These include corn, safflower, soybean, sunflower, peanut and canola. While Omega 6 are needed for health, most people consume 50x more than as needed (common ingredient in processed foods). Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Coconut Oil should be the oils of choice in the “cancer prevention focused kitchen”. If you cook with EVOO sprinkle turmeric and other spices in the oil, and it prevents oxidation. (I like that last tip!)
Avoid these fish – no matter what due to heavy contamination: shark, swordfish, tilefish, and large tuna.
Red meat in moderation – The biggest issue with red meat is the high iron content, which Blaylock labels “a cancer fertilizer”. Iron dramatically increases free radical generation which fuels cancer growth. Note that it is important to avoid supplements with IRON, as we Americans usually don’t have trouble getting enough iron in our diet, but we often have too much. Dr. Graham Colditz of the Washington University School of Medicine, as well as other experts, state to limit red meat to no more than 3, 3 oz. servings per week. So if you go out to dinner on Saturday night and have a 10 oz. sirloin - you have had your week’s consumption of red meat!
6. Metal toxicity – fluoride, aluminum and mercury are three metals that promote cancer, and Dr. Blaylock states they are very toxic to cells, especially brain cells. Black tea, soy milk, processed meats and processed cheese are high sources of aluminum and fluoride in foods. Mercury comes from fish, dental amalgam fillings, and vaccines. I think we’d be surprised to learn of all things we absorb trace metals from, and it is impossible to avoid it 100%. Keep in mind that although the FDA stamps its approval on many things, and manufacturers will state that amounts are too small to be harmful, trace metals in particular are fat soluable. Basically, these toxins build up as they store inside our bodies.
For this reason, I really do believe it is beneficial to detoxify at least once every 3 mo. My husband and I both use Essentials 7 Day body detox which cleanses and removes trace metals from essential organs, and is gentle as well. Because it contains chlorella, it can also remove mercury toxins, which few body cleanses can do (i.e. your homemade lemon juice and cayenne cannot remove the trace heavy metals). If I had cancer, I would be detoxing every month, especially because of the effects of traditional cancer treatment.
For a healthful life it would seem all of the recommendations above would be beneficial life practices to incorporate for a lifestyle of wellness. I always recommend taking the road to renewed health, one step at a time.
To your health!
Rita S.

Sunshine on My Shoulders Makes Me Happy (for a reason!)
This past weekend I was routed through the Denver, Colorado airport on the way to Vegas for an amazing and transforming weekend with the health and wellness company I consult for, through which I am building my dream life. While in the Deniver airport...John Denver could be heard in just about every store - "Rocky Mountain High", "Sunshine on My Shoulders"...and I got to thinking...
There is a biological reason that sunshine on one's shoulders "makes me happy" - sunshine provides the very necessary Vitamin D3 - which scientists are not recognizing as an actual hormone versus a "vitamin". Which in of itself is interesting...
Dr. Russell Blaylock has written extensively, in recent issues of his wellness newsletter, on the topic of anxiety and depression. A commonality, per Blaylock, is a deficiency in Vitamin D. Therefore, if one has enough Vitamin D3 - the opposite of depression would be "happy". The sunshine vitamin = a dose of happy vitamin.
Here in Wisconsin, winter is cold, lacks sunshine, and the gray skies take a toll on people - S.A.D. (seasonal affective disorder) becomes more common. This past winter I heard stories from at least 6 people I know whom developed this. I knew my company was likely formulating a Vitamin D spray - I only wished I had it in my hands for those dear to me who were affected - and we had such a LONG winter, too. You can learn more about S.A.D. here.
Dr. Joe Mercola wrote an article, "Vitamin D is VITAL for You - and Your Family", in which he goes into great detail on the benefits of Vitamin D. I will sum it up with his key bullet pointed benefits:
- Heart Health
- Cell formation and longevity
- Skin health
- Pancreatic health
- Aging process
- Sleep patterns
- hearing
- Reproductive Health
- Eye health
- Athletic heatlh
- Vascular System health
- Respiratory Health
- Immune health
- healthy mood and feeling of well being
- Weight management, including carb and fat metabolism
- hair and hair follicles
- Strong healthy bones, as D encourages cacium uptake
- Muscles (check out this article)
Are you surprised to see muscles on the list? I admit I did not realize Vit. D3 was so important for so many biological functions.
Vitamin B12 should go hand in hand with D for maximum benefits. B12 is necessary for red blood cell formation, and helps alleviate chronic fatigue.
I hope this sheds some LIGHT on the topic of the necesisty for Vitamin D., and B12, too! If you can't get a little sunshine on your shoulders for 15-20 min. per day (no sunscreen, no clothing to cover), you may want to have your levels checked and determine if supplementation may be to your benefit. According to Dr. Gominak, and his report found here, we would need to drink 100 cups of milk per day to get the Vitamin D we need. In fact, after reading that article, I do believe I need to go spray a bit of Essnetial Vitamin D/B12 into my mouth. It will be absorbed quickly, and I just may have the best night's sleep ever!
To your health!

Food Pyramids - Go Green!
People want to know, "what did you do to lose weight and keep it off?" Quite simply, I made a LIFESTYLE CHANGE. Diet is not in my vocabulary. I did not eliminate all carbs, nor did I pump up, and plump out, on enormous amounts of meat. I did not become a vegetarian, nor did I head to the south beach.
COMMON SENSE. That's really it, in a nut shell. (Nuts are GOOD FATS, by the way!) I did not read a diet book, join a club, or a program in which I had to weigh in weekly or pay a fee to have someone tell me what I should and should not eat. I DID NOT count calories, and the health newsletters I read would totally agree with that. We need calories - but there are good calories, bad calories. Our bodies NEED FUEL - good energy. Green food is fuel for your body, consume lots of brown food, sugars, simple carbs and you may as well be pouring battery acid in. Okay, maybe that's an extreme analogy - but acidic food is TOXIC food and promotes ill health and disease.
Check out the Healthy Living Cheat Sheet below. If you need a jump start to healthier living this guide has helped 100s of people. Most of us have addictions, and we don't even know it. We are addicted to sugar - no less a drug in our body than perhaps a weed. Caffeine, akin to alcohol. Simple carbs - another word for "joint pain". Artificial sweeteners - have you seen the commercial of the egg frying on hot pavement "this is your brain on drugs?" - well, don't be fooled by your diet sodas - it is pretty much an equivalent to frying your brain cells!
You may think this a little harsh, but the truth can be just that. I am not saying you need to curb all your addictions at once...I backed off more slowly, 50%, then 75% and now I would say I eat alkaline about 85-90% of the time. I did not do a 30 Day Detox until I had already lost 62 lbs, and at the end of those thirty days I had lost 16 more!
For some - a jump start - cold turkey on all the allergenic foods in Step 1 are the only way to go. Those with serious addictions will likely experience headaches by day three. BUT if you stick with it, by the end of the first week you are going to feel SO MUCH BETTER!
If you can eat clean and green you may not need to incorporate a vegan (pea. brown rice, cranberry) protein shake - whch is pH correct for your body, into your lifestyle. For myself, I needed a convenience button and the Essentials shake fit my needs, not to mention I made up some pretty delicious concoctions! Dessert for breakfast- I like that very much! (LOL)

I did not create the plate diagram above, but I do want to clarify the protein section. This does not mean an 8 oz steak every day, taking up 1/4 of your plate is acceptable! Dr. Russel Blaylock stated, in one of his newsletters, that 12 oz of red meat is all we need in ONE WEEK! Research is showing that iron toxicity is prevalent in almost all forms of cancer. And if you are not eating grass fed, organic beef....well then, forget it if you think you are eating healthy. Paleo people - be warned that excessive amount of MEAT is acidic and cancer cells thrive on an acidic state of being. There are plenty of low carbers out there who also think they can eat meat to their hearts desire and not have ill effects. Yes, you may lose weight initially, and perhaps permanently if it keeps you off the sugars and simple carbs, but people who eat healthy get cancer, too. I would almost be inclined to say that vegetarians perhaps have it down right, regarding healthy eating. But unbeknownst to many of them - SOY is not a HEALTH FOOD. Not by the time it goes through American processing (which makes the end product acidic). GMO is an entire issue with soy, and even organic soy absorbs more trace metals from the ground than any other plant in the plant kingdom.
More than 50%, I would even suggest to make 75% of your plate GREEN. Healthy nut choices can be included in that. Drizzle extra virgin olive oil on your salad. Cut up half a lean chicken breast to go with your salad, and add some fresh fruit to your salad to brighten the flavors. It is amazing how vibrant and delicious a salad becomes when you add a variety of toppings to your dark green GREENS (iceburg lettuce is NOT a health food - avoid it as it equals empty calories).
And for the record, unless I am detoxing I treat myself...if you have behaved all week long, made healthy choices and stuck with it - by all means go out and treat yourself to a mocha, a scoop of ice cream, or a couple pieces of dark chocolate. Depraved people have been known to eat an entire quart of ice cream or bag of chips in one sitting - don't do this to yourself. Rewards - it's all about feeling better, having more energy, and going GREEN!
To your health,
Rita S.

Traumatic Brain Injury and Breakthrough Research
It's not a drug. It can't be patented. But it is being discovered as a miraculous healing element for post traumatic brain injuries. I was simply going to link this information in my sidebar, but then I realized if someone has a loved one in a coma, and is searching on line for some thread of hope that might be of benefit, or give a glimmer of hope to having quality of life after injury - I need to actually post this information so it can be found.
I have read much, from a variety of sources, about studies showing that bio-identical progesterone hormone can help repair nerve damage as it regenerates the myethin sheath. Dr. John Lee once said if his parents ever had a stroke, he would apply progesterone cream on their face to help restore damage from paralysis.
One day in conversation with Dr. Michael Platt, I theorized that if progesterone can help nerves, might it help one experiencing vertigo. He explained what is happening to the nerves in the back of the neck when vertigo occurs - and he wasn't sure it would help, but it very well could. Although, I don't believe the person whom I shared this with ever talked with her mother about the theory.
I have some permanent nerve damage in the toes of a foot, having atrophied from pinched off sciatic. As much as I would love to see if my Prolief cream can help restore the feelings in those phalanges, by the time I go to bed at night I am too tired to remember to rub my progesterone cream into my toes each night. But I am curious! Maybe one day, when I am retired - I can try this. (LOL)
Researchers continue to study the effects of bio-identical progesterone and its affects on head and brain trauma. You can learn more about these studies and findings right here.
In stark contrast, be very AWARE that the synthetic form of progesterone (root word "progestation" - brings life) - known as progestin, is a dangerous drug company attempt at trying to duplicate that which God has created, and have failed to the demise of many unsuspecting people. Read more about that here. Be sure to follow additional links for more information.
If you have a loved one who has suffered traumatic brain injury, first - know that nothing is impossible with God. He is the Healer of all and mighty in power. Have hope, be in prayer, and gather those around you to pray also. My prayers are with anyone who reads this blog and finds themselves in this situation.
To your health,
Rita S.

What's In Your Health Drink?
In a few days I will be sharing a talk on taking care of your liver - or more importantly, loving on your liver. We each only have one. The liver is the body's filtering system. Just as you would not let your furnace filter get totally clogged, nor would you want the city water treatment plant to not be operating to par - we need to ensure the filtering system that God created for our bodies - the LIVER, is loved on and not taxed, which leads to disease and illness.
Come to learn more on Sunday at Crossroads Coffeehouse from 3-5 pm as we kick of a community group - Vitality 2012.
Today is a couple thoughts about beverages...now, I am referring to health drinks. Not soda, and not even energy drinks, as both are the opposite of health drinks.
This is a complete cut and paste, and wish I could remember from whom I found this - but I do believe it was Dr. Mercola's web site although I JUST downloaded 4 Myths- Sick, Tired, Fat by Dr. Kresser (another web site I just subscribed to) and he reiterates the same thing.
------------------------------
4 health drinks to avoid
Here are 4 of the top so-called "healthy" offenders:
NUMBER 1: 100% "Natural" fruit juice
Surprised?
Ok. Yes. Fruit juice is a better choice than drinking fake high-fructose corn syrup juice … but … it's still a truck-load of calories per ounce of liquid.
On top of that, it has almost all of the blood sugar regulating fiber stripped out of the fruit—this means the natural fruit sugars will trigger insulin surges and send your blood sugar soaring into the diabetic range!
NOT what you want at all.
This is a BIG one because most parents think fruit juice is a "healthy" choice for their children … but … the science shows it's definitely not.
In a study* of 4 to 12 year old children researchers from Deakin University found children who drank more than two glasses (500ml) of fruit juice/drinks per day were more likely to be overweight or obese.
"These odds increased as the amounts of fruit juice/drink consumed increased," Dr Sanigorski said. "Children who drank more than three glasses of soft drink (three quarters of a litre/750ml) or 4 glasses of fruit juice/drinks (1 litre) on the day in question were more than twice as likely to be overweight or obese compared with children who did not drink these drinks."
So the best thing to do is keep fruit juices far out of the hands of our children.
But it's not just the kids who fall prey to these health wrecking Trojan horses—adults fall for it too!
In fact, one particular juice is extremely dangerous for ANY man to consume …
Can you guess what it is?
100% Pure Orange Juice.
Why?
Orange Juice is rich in IRON … which is potentially toxic if your blood levels become too high.
The reason men have to worry about consuming too much orange juice (as little as two big glasses each day) is because we men don't menstruate each month … … And that means we lack an efficient method of clearing excess iron from our blood each month.
Yes.
The "healthy" glass of orange juice you're having at breakfast not only spikes your insulin levels into diabetic ranges (which … along with your energy … will come plummeting down later in the morning) …
… But if you're a man it can also be loading your body with a potentially dangerous heavy metal.
Not good.
So with all this in mind …
It's a much better idea to EAT fruit the way nature intended, with all of the fiber intact, and use a whole foods base multi-vitamin/antioxidant supplement to get enough of the super-nutrients contained in fruit juice.
Let's move onward …
NUMBER 2: Soy Milk
This used to be an often recommended "healthy" alternative to milk …
The truth is:
Most soy products these days are heavily processed with little nutrient density… and … this includes most soy milk you see at the grocery store.
Without question, most soy milk has become too sugary and is controlled by the same food and beverage giants that are still manufacturing and marketing other products that promote degenerative disease.
What's more: high levels of soy consumption have been linked with un-naturally high levels of estrogen production in both men and women …
For men this is death to your sex drive, decreased sperm production and could cause problems such as gynecomastia (abnormal enlargement of men's breasts) …
… For women, even though estrogen is considered a "female sex hormone" … like most anything … too much of it is also bad.
Estrogen dominance has been linked to thyroid disruption, a host of autoimmune diseases and some research questions the connection to hormone sensitive cancers such as breast cancer.
Your best bet? Just avoid it.
And whatever you do, if you are raising a small child, do not feed your child soy-based breast milk replacement products …
… Hopefully, the potential dangers of this commonly accepted practice are evident now.
That said, not all soy is bad …
The only soy based food I have found that is in it's fairly natural state is edamame (green vegetable soypods found at most high-end Japanese restaurants).
Keep in mind I still eat it VERY rarely if I'm dining out or added to a healthy stir fry using walnut, macadamia nut or grapeseed oil.
Speaking of dining out … here's one to REALLY avoid …
NUMBER 3: Crappuccinos
Ok, I mean Cappuccino, but I'm really referring to those high priced gourmet coffee drinks.
While black coffee can help you burn fat because the caffeine content gives your metabolism a slight boost, these tempting coffee calorie hogs can hide up to 1,000 calories!
In one drink!
YES … you are correct … that's insane!
Still craving one of these gourmet coffee drinks?
You can make your own fat-burning version pretty easily:
You'll start by spooning sugar-free, nonfat vanilla yogurt in an ice cube tray and freezing it into cubes overnight.
Then you'll add them to a blender with a splash of organic fat-free milk, a teaspoon of instant coffee crystals, and a scoop of natural vanilla or chocolate whey protein powder.
Lastly, just sprinkle on some cinnamon to add a little fat-burning kick. If you want to cut down on the caffeine, just use decaffeinated instant coffee instead.
This will taste so good that you'll swear it isn't good for you, but it definitely is … and … it's much lower calories than those commercial brands!
Plus, the added protein will give your metabolism a good nudge and help to power your muscles throughout the day.
And last but not least, here is …
NUMBER 4: Zero Calorie Flavored Waters
The good news is these are 0 calories.
That's where the good news stops though …
… most of these still use questionable artificial sweeteners which have been shown to inhibit fat burning, increase appetite, and block the absorption of nutrients into your body in a variety of studies.
Don't be too bummed out though…
A couple of 0 cal flavored drinks use the all-natural stevia plant as a sweetener, include Zevia (a stevia based soft drink), and the 0 cal varieties of Sobe Lifewater for example.
So your best bet?
If you need a little more taste than water every once in a while—look for one of the brands I just mentioned …
… Or … you could always squeeze some lemon in water and maybe add a natural sweetener like stevia to satisfy your taste buds.
So now that you know some top diet drink disasters to avoid … and … you know a few good alternatives to popular "health" drinks.

I hope you found that information helpful. Today, for the first time ever I drank more than half my body weight in ounces! I drank a 32 oz bottle of body cleansing solution mixed with water and was done by 10 am! I then managed two more 32 oz bottles during the day. At bible study I drank a large mug of detox tea, and two protein shakes. I should be floating!
I do feel more skinny and my pants are loose - celebrating my little moment in the spotlight as the top person in a privage Biggest Loser challene I am a part of.

Is a changed lifestyle of eating worth it?
We are born in an alkaline state...but in all likliehood, we will die in an acidic one unless one decides to take charge of their health and well being, and is on purpose to provide an alkaline, internal environment, one that is not cancer cell friendly.
Per Dr. Bruce West "...probably everyone over age 50 has cancer cells of one sort or another in their body at any given time. Most will never know it is there because their body will simply cure it. These are the survivors. The strong people - ones with a strong immune system..."
"...you can be a survivor. Once you know cancer thrives in an acidic, anaerobic (without oxygen), toxic, and immune -weakened environment in your body....taking steps to maintain proper acid/alkaline balance, increase oxygen levels, decrease toxin levels or detoxify the body, and strengthen the immune system are the keys to preventing cancer. Although it may seem daunting, it is not only easy, but it can become a way of life..."
Dr. Bruce West IS one of those doctors curing cancer. He was interviewed in KNOCKOUT and I just quoted him above in reading "Killing Cancer...Not People". I have to agree with his statements, from all I have read…let common sense prevail! I will probably subscribe to West’s health newsletter soon, and add to my ever growing library of resources. http://www.healthalert.com/t-Article_Archives.aspx
Yesterday a friend asked, what if after all I have changed, and all I am doing- fails and I end up with cancer anyhow. What if…
First, I can say most assuredly….what if I had NOT changed my ways. I was already on the fast track to type II diabetes, chronic back pain, achy joints, continuous sinus drainage. Because I did change my eating habits, lost 85 lbs. – all of those symptoms that add up to a less enjoyable life, are now gone. I feel the best I have felt in 20+ years…and that alone, makes a lifestyle eating change, totally WORTH it. I could die tomorrow very happy and feeling GREAT!
If I do get cancer…well, for one it means I started too late. At age 47, I had plenty of years of built up toxins, prime cancer cell growing lifestyle, and ignorant consumer shopping habits leading up to the “C” word.
But I also know that my immune system is fantastic. I have rarely gotten sick these past two years, and if I do I breeze through it pretty quickly. A healthy immune system is half the battle in fighting the “big C”. If I do get cancer, I would immediately buy a juicer and start juicing wheatgrass and all sorts of low-glycemic vegetables, pump in oxygen, and immediately detoxify my inner organs so that my liver could function at prime capacity.
I will keep on keeping on doing what I am doing. It is working for me. My entire family is benefiting from healthier food choices. When we are all healthier, we are a happy family as well. You can also enjoy greater health in 2012. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Progesterone Effects on Bone Density & Osteoporosis
As this weekend draws to a close I would like to say hello to those I met at the Holiday Market Expo in Madison this weekend. Thanks for coming by!
My mother gave me a printout of a very interesting article today regarding a spinal infusion surgery using Medtronic's controversial bone morphogenetic protein-2, or BMP-2 (Amplify). Standford U studies are finding numerous links to cancer, and I was just reading other articles about this citing additional serious side effects including sterility, and more.
What does all this mean to me? It makes me thankful that I am using Prolief natural progesterone cream not only to maintain hormone balance, but have peace in knowing that progesterone cream increases my bone mass index and I am warding of osteoporosis before it gets started (not to mention countering excess estrogen in my body to help ward off cancer).
There are lots of articles and lawsuits out there right now on Medtronic's Amplify. Basically Amplify allows surgeons to do a bone graft without using bone from the actual patient. As we have already learned with synthetic hormones - introducing foreign substances to the human body that do not match molecular structure of what God has created only causes problems. You can read more about Amplify here.
To help my parents out with their failing eyesight, I retyped Dr. Bean's hand out she had provided to consultants with instructions for using Prolief progesterone cream in a larger type size. I was feeling a bit lazy in regards to typing all the text, and wanted to find the information Dr. Bean had provided at the bottom of the page regarding osteoporosis, but could not find the exact excerpt from his book, “What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Menopause” by Dr. John Lee.
However, I did find information that you will find interesting no doubt - as I did...
Patients of Dr. John Lee have found relief from menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats and insomnia, and they also reported relief from a wide array of other symptoms as diverse as dry eyes, bloating, irritability, gall bladder problems, osteoporosis pain, hair loss, and lumpy or sore breasts, for example.
Lee has documented research from around the world noting the positive effect on bone health with progesterone use, and began to get bone density tests for his patients on progesterone. Within a few years Lee realized that these women were gaining significant bone density - particularly those with the worst bone density to begin with.
Lee recommends patience: “If a woman has not been making progesterone for a number of years her body-fat progesterone ratio is probably very low. Since progesterone is fat soluable, it is likely that during the first month or so, much of the progesterone that is absorbed will be taken up by body fat." For these women Lee recommends 2 oz. of the cream each month (Prolief is a 2.5 oz bottle) for the first two months. (Essentially this is approximately 3-4 pumps per day rather than the recommended two). After this period one ounce should be sufficient.
This is one of the reasons why I tell many premenopausal woment that it may take 3-4 months for their symptoms to subside.
Since prevention or reversal of osteoporosis is a goal, Lee recommends a serial lumbar bone density (BMD) test to monitor improvement. If BMD rises one-half jar per month for 10-12 months, then one knows the dosage of progesterone is sufficient. Individual needs vary - the correct dose is the dose that works.
Previously I have blogged about studies indicating many positive attributes of progesterone cream for brain function. I came across this today as well...
Progesterone and Brain Health: Brinton RD, Thompson RF et al, “Progesterone receptors: form and function in brain,” Front Neuroendocrinol 2008 May;29(2):313-39. Epub 2008 Feb 23. Research is coming out almost weekly showing how important progesterone is to brain function. “…progesterone has multiple non-reproductive functions in the central nervous system to regulate cognition, mood, inflammation, mitochondrial function, neurogenesis and regeneration, myelination and recovery from traumatic brain injury.” Furthermore, progesterone is everywhere in the brain: “Remarkably, PRs [progesterone receptors] are broadly expressed throughout the brain and can be detected in every neural cell type.” I have downloaded a PDF of the abstract of this entire study and will be happy to email it to you if you wish to learn more.
Dr. Lee stated he would apply progesterone cream to his parent’s foreheads if either were to have a stroke. That statement resulted in many colleagues from all over the world contacting him to learn more. It wasn't too long ago I had shared a news story of a young man in a tragic accident and in a coma for months. He was predicted to be brain dead. However, every day his mother applied progesterone cream to the young man's forehead, and when he came out of his coma he had 100% brain function. The man stated how grateful he was to his mother for her diligence and knowledge so that he can live a full life, as he has a long journey ahead to learn how to walk again.
Knowing this ...it is one reason that I make sure every week I apply my progesterone cream to my forehead at least once a week. I am fully aware of the importance towards brain function on many levels, and benefits in stroke prevention. I will close today with one more quote by Dr. Lee: “Over the past 15 years I have been struck by the fact that patients on progesterone (without estrogen supplements) have been remarkably free of heart disease.”
I began my business because of a $34 bottle of progesterone cream that can change lives and save lives. It allows me to help people and I am passionate about doing so. And although it took awhile, what is especially fulfilling for me is that my message is getting through to my parents and in-laws, and they are using natural progesterone cream. Protecting my loved ones means everything!
To your health!
