Monitor Your Active Cancer Level

Cancer is not an overnight condition...it grows silently, often undetected, over time.
Did you know that you can monitor the cancer in your body? I sure did not...until this past July. I learned that you can take an inexpensive test called an HCG test. Read more about it here, at the Navaroo Medical Clinic.
If you have a family history of cancer, are a survivor enjoying remission... remember that exposure to radiation (commonly used in diagnostics) is fuel for cancer cell growth. The HCG test is a SAFE monitoring system...and can tell you if you need to make some lifestyle changes to achieve a pH correct state of being to switch those cancer cells off. For those in remission, it is recommended to take the test twice a year, or as often as you feel comfortable, or as your doctor suggests.
For those currently in cancer treatment, the HCG can be an early warning if your treatment protocol is not working. This past month I heard a testimony from a man whose cancer cells actually fed off of chemo and radiation...instead of dying the cancer spread! An HCG test would have warned this man early on if the treatment was working, or not. It is recommended to establish a baseline as soon as possible after one's diagnosis, and retest every 2-3 months. If this test were done during treatment...it would provide an early on indicator if the chosen path of treatment is successfully working. If not, find a new treatment plan of action.
As long as your actuve cancer cell count number remains constant or goes down...you are on the right path. I am willing to bet your doctor, probably even your oncologist, is not aware of this test.  This test does NOT tell you what type of cancer you may have - it is not cancer specific, it only measures activity.
It is encouraged to send a sample to the Navaroo Clinic direct, pay the $55 out of pocket and a postage stamp, as it is not likely covered by insurance. According to the site, cancertutor.org, the test, if done in the U.S. would cost well over $300. In addition, if this test were done in a U.S. lab the clinic would do a blood draw, it is quick and convenient for them. However, in Bill Henderson's book, "Cancer-Free", he explains that the urine sample test is more accurate, and therefore it is a better choice to send your uric acid sample direct to the Navaroo Clinic. Their website provides complete instructions and you can use PayPal to pay for the testing. Results are emailed to you often within a couple of weeks.
For a person such as myself, who has not had a cancer diagnosis, I can have peace of mind knowing I have cancer at bay. OR I may get a red alert and will get even more serious about a more healthy eating plan... I know I have sugar too often, especially as of late, and  I am fueling my cancer cells each time I have a sweet treat.
STRESS also increases cancer cell activity. Learn to give up and let go that which is out of our control!  If you are concerned you will get cancer, constantly have testing done, or even have a breast removed to avoid cancer...in all liklihood - you will still be diagnosed with cancer. What you think about you bring about...there is all kinds of research on the power of the mind and whether we will become ill or be healthy.
We all have cancer cells once we get past 30 - actually, with today's toxic world I don't doubt my kids have cancer cells as well. However, it is one's ability to switch cancer cells on or off that matter. Cancer will affect 1 in 2 people, which means 50% of us manage to switch cancer cells off. You can probably figure out which group you ma be in if you are honest with yourself about lifestyle choices, and matters of your mind.
We did not know about the HCG test at the first indication that my husband may have cancer. Had we, we would have sent out for the HCG test right away and it would have been able to give us a baseline and monitor our treatment for progress. Rather, we did the HCG test 6 weeks into our alternative treatment. The test came back on a positive note in that it is/was a low number. We are going to retest at the end of this month, that being said, we are not waiting for another HCG test and making some changes due to the weight loss.
To your health,
Rita S.

The Cancer Diet....Guess What, it is NOT ENSURE!

42-55% of all cancer patients die of malnutrition. What do conventional doctors do? They give patients Ensure, which is full of sugar...talk about putting GASLINE to the fire....cancer feeds on SUGAR! Check out this link for an Ensure label....just because doctors recommend it DOES NOT mean it is a healthy choice - but it certainly keeps them in business, doesn't it?

You cannot CURE cancer if nutrition is not addressed, and incorporating a HONEST TO GOODNESS cancer diet.  This means NO cake, pancakes, breads, muffins, no processed meat and food. Period.
This does not mean forever, but if you want to become cancer free - diet is a HUGE part of recovery.

Does it mean no cake forever, no...but until cancer is in remission, YES. BUT it does not mean you can return to your former unhealthy food choices lifestyle.  Once you have cancer (and we all will - cancer cells are inevitable - unless we are being proactive), and you make the decision that you WANT to LIVE - then healthy food choices is not an option, it becomes a part of life because food either GIVES LIFE or it kills us. Unfortunately most of us don't know we are killing ourselves with food until it is too late.

If you put toxic foods into a body that is already weak in the first place you will not get positive results. Cancer is a wasting disease.

A Study at University of Sydney Australia, where 20 different cancers were looked at ...they found Chemo has a 2.1 success rate with a five year survival margin. Biggest contributors to death among cancer patients...chemo, radiation, diet.   But don't take it from me....learn the TRUTH ABOUT CANCER with the You Tube video in which Ty Bollinger interviews oncologists, PhDs, cancer patients, research scientists from around the world.

May you feel great, look great and live great!

In Remission...Now What?

So you have been through chemo and radiation with success...and are in remission...congratulations!!!

Now what? There will always be the fear of "will it come back"...we cannot shut that switch off in our brain. Yes, we can have a positive attitude... but there will be days. My husband had a morning like this today. Since "our blog" is for his journey, I am going to "talk" to those who have been there, speaking on behalf of your friends and family members asking my opinion of what you can do to ensure your body remains healed. Keep in mind, this is my personal opinion...I am not a doctor or giving medical advice, and by putting my recommendations into action is no guarantee. No one has a guarantee on life..mine can come to end tomorrow just as much as the next person.

I am a book-learned, research driven person...and my recommendations are based on holistic wellness approaches as to what I WOULD DO FOR MYSELF.

For anyone...whether you are in remission, or going through treatment, there is a pretty inexpensive test you can have done that measures the cancer cells in your bloodstream - it is called an HCG test.  Read more about it here, at the Navaroo Medical Clinic. Basically, taken every two months if in a current treatment plan, it will tell you whether or not your treatment is working. For those in remission, I would probably take the test twice a year or as often as you feel comfortable. As long as your number remains constant or goes down...you are on the right path. I am willing to bet your doctor, probably even your oncologist, is not aware of this test.

If this test were done during treatment...it would provide an early on indicator if the chosen path of treatment is successfully working. If not, find a new treatment plan of action.

We just sent away for this test for my husband, and I sent a sample in for myself as well. For $55 I can have peace of mind knowing I have cancer at bay. OR I may get a red alert and will get even more serious about a more healthy eating plan... I know I have sugar too often in one week - I am fueling my cancer cells each time I have a sweet treat. We all have cancer cells once we get past 30 - actually, with today's toxic world I don't doubt my kids have cancer cells as well. However, it is one's ability to switch cancer cells on or off that matter - and fortunately, for many our body is functioning and the off switch is working.

This is what I would do for myself if I were in remission:
- Monitor with the HCG test to measure cancer cell levels
- use pH strips to monitor my acidity to alkaline levels weekly
- eat an 80/20 diet (vegetarian/animal based foods - another way to look at this: alkaline/acidic foods)
- utilize a pure, full spectrum super green food - this will fuel cells with oxygen (more on this Sept 1)
- shop organic as much as possible
- avoid any and all artificial ingredients as well as high glycemic
- use CLEAN and PURE skin care, shampoo, etc
-  avoid chemical cleaners/pesticides in the home, and artificial fragrances (i.e. no artificial candles/plug ins)
- use a full body/organ detox protocol quarterly (look for broken cell chlorella)
- ensure the estradiol to progesterone ratio is in balance if my cancer involved any reproductive organ or breast (ZRT Labs offers test kits)
- monitor vitamin levels, D and magnesium deficiency is prevalent in cancer patients
- support the immune system - diet is key, supplementation often necessary
- utilize infra-red heat or sauna if possible - sweat - turn up the heat, not with strenuous activity, which can weaken the immune, but with heat sourcing products

Truths about cancer:
1. cancer cannot survive in an alkaline environment
2. an oxygen deprived cell fuels cancer
3. sugar fuels cancer - if your doctor says you can eat anything you want - DON'T LISTEN!!
4. cancer cells are compromised at temps over 109.4 degrees F

This is what I would do if I were in remission. I would do pretty much the same if I were in a battle with cancer - but would step up the anti-oxidant, oxygen rich food sources.

May healthy be your new happy,
Rita S.

Embrace the Sun for Its Cancer Protecting Benefits

A common deficiency in breast cancer patients, according to Dr. Russell Blaylock's January 2012 Wellness Report ...is Vitamin D. Vitamin D also plays an important role in preventing prostrate and colon cancers. Dr. Joseph Mercola also discusses the cancer protective benefits of Vitamin D in his article.
Now that summer is here we tend to slather on toxic sunscreen that not only blocks that essential D vitamin from the sun, the ingredients in the sunscreen actually promote cancer cell growth.
We think we are protecting ourselves, when in actuality we are promoting cancer on two accounts.
1. Dumping carcinogens and endocrine disruptors into our body through its largest absorption pathway, the SKIN.
2. Blocking the essential vitamin D from the sun that can kill of existing cancer cells.
Don't be fooled - as adults cancer cells exist because we have spent a life time creating an imbalance by our food and product use choices, and environmental toxins out of our control. The big question for the summer, what are you going to do about it? Fuel those dangerous cells, or fuel your body with pH correct food and products, and get your Vitamin D?
There are safe sunscreens available...but you will need to be wary and make an educated sunscreen choice. My family chooses Arbonne as our safe brand, when in the mid-day sun. As well, all sunscreens don't perform the same and must reapplied as directed, if you are going to spend a day outdoors, whether in the water, or not. But before you apply sunscreen be sure to get 20-30 minutes of unfiltered sun in the morning hours, before the sun becomes too intense, to help your body absorb the essential Vitamin D hormone.
For mid-day, covering up is smart - it not only protects skin from being burned, but it provides an insect barrier as well for those working in gardens and lawns. Wear COTTON clothing, not synthetics.
Vitamin D is essential for hormone balance and nutrient absorption. Check with your local holistic health care provider for options to have hormone levels tested, and include Vitamin D in the panel. My own family has used ZRT Labs, which also provide results with their test kits.
In excess Vitamin D can be harmful, however, an interesting documentary had interviewed a doctor in Florida who finds that most of his patients are deficient. Because we spend so much time indoors during the day, this should not be surprising. Working with a health care provider that understands hormone balance and how to help the body re-balance naturally is ideal for long-term health.
This summer I encourage you to embrace the sun as your friend. Greet it each morning, with an early day walk, or find a place to sit and mediate and pray, read, or enjoy the sound of singing birds.
May you feel great, look great and live great from the inside out,
Rita S.

Extreme Exercise and Weight Loss - How Beneficial Is it?

Recently I was in a discussion about successful weight loss programs - what works, what doesn't, are supplements necessary, do weight loss products teach anything about lifestyle change? All are great questions...

I agree with those who advocate lifestyle change in food choices is the way to go... if people are conditioned to open a box of "weight management" meals, or simply heat up a frozen weight management dinner...it does not teach sustainable healthy living choices. Often times the "meals in a box" are laden with artificial ingredients, and for low-fat items - artificial sweeteners are likely on the label to make it taste good.  Short term weight loss...long term memory loss, is my blunt take on the effects of artificial anything.

Some cite that those wanting to lose weight should embrace running, bootcamps...

For the very out of shape person - let's be honest...three days of not being able to walk after one of these extreme bootcamp workouts...is that motivating? Are you ready to go back the next day? I am sure there are "easy starter" bootcamps - but what I hear from my friends that participate in bootcamps...they are ANYTHING but moderate.

Extreme sports - they are fine for the conditioned athlete and fairly healthy person, but for those in poor health - whose cells are already deficient in oxygen - there is risk in additional oxidative stress on their bodies from extreme exercise. In contrast, WALKING is a great form of exercise - for any age and any level. Adding walking poles increases the cardio and upper body workout. Start with a walk around your home, or in your home...and go a bit further as your body can manage.

As one who has read and studied a number of books on healing from cancer and cancer prevention...extreme sports do not help a body heal on the celluar level, which is what someone very much out of shape and in poor health, we can assume, is in need of. Two authors who've voiced concern re: extreme sports for cancer survivors are Russel Blaylock, neurosurgen, Raymond Francis M.Sc. The topic here is EXTREME, as Blaylock also stresses the need for exercise.  Mountain climbing, running marathons or participating in tri-athalons...if your body is healing from cancer, let it heal. If you are overweight ...ease in to it. You can put one of these sports on your bucket list of aspirations...prior to my weight loss, I would not even consider these things. Well, and still don't, 80 lbs. less of me later...

As a person with atrophied toes/weak foot - bootcamp is not a fit. For the many who have physical impairments - learning to eat whole foods (primarily an alkaline based diet) and simply walking, or picking up a hula hoop!, will help one make great strides in losing weight. The alkaline food focus, by the way, will help your body heal and restore on a cellular level.

EXCERCISE IS IMPORTANT! To be clear, I don't want anyone to get the idea that I am stating there is no need to exercise or sweat.  Light to MODERATE excercise is definitely good for the body, and obesity is definitely linked to disease, such as breast cancer.

Regarding supplements....our whole food supply, many nutrition and medical experts agree, are not of the same quality as they were 100, or even 50, years ago. This includes organics, although I've read you do benefit from over 40% more nutrients from organic produce.  Many renown experts concur that nutrition supplementation can definitely benefit those striving for weight loss. As a doctor friend of mine says, we are an "overeating, malnourished society". Many are fortuante to be able to find a nutritionist or naturopath who can run tests to determine specific deficiencies.

Arbonne, just this month, released two evolutionary products targeting weight management - and there will be those who question the need. "Just eat vegetables and eliminate ALL processed foods."  Easy to say, difficult to do - especially in our fast paced world.  (been there....oh wait, I still am!)

Because I do consult with a number of people past age 60, several who are at this point in their life, not that mobile, I can teach them to change their eating habits, and these evolutionary products can be of help in stabilizing blood sugar, lowering cholesterol, etc.

The Mayo Clinic holistic department was commissioned by Arbonne to conduct clinical trials - and the results revealed positive benefits to patients. Arbonne also had the products tested by consultants. This video provides feedback from several in the trial run.

My wish for everyone is that you become healthy enough so that you CAN participate in a boot camp, marathon, or whatever is on your bucket list, without taking your breath away, or feeling like you have been run over by a MACK truck. As in all areas of life, moderation is key, unless it is your prayer life...at which you can go extreme...and not experience ill effects.

May you feel great, look great, and live great,
Rita S.

Glucomannan Fiber and Green Coffee Bean Extract - Evolutionary!

Back in 2010 my blood sugar numbers were borderline - but I resolved that with a big change in my eating habits. This was not easy to do, it took a lot of discipline. I want to share specifically two new products Arbonne came out with two weeks ago that have ingredients to help control blood sugar, insulin production, and increase metabolism.

A brochure is available which I would be happy to email details and ingredient list - feel free to contact me!

The new Evolution product line are listed in the new catalog for weight management. Arbonne paid the Mayo Clinic to test both products in clinical trials on patients...and Dr. Brent Bauer of the Mayo Holistic & Alternative Medicine Department reported positive benefits to the patients that tried these products, when I attended the training conference in Vegas May 7-9.

The first product is Evolution ThermoBooster. It promotes THERMOGENESIS - which the Mayo Clinic refers to in this non-Arbonne related article, as NEAT (non-excercise activity thermogenesis). Simply put, from my understanding, thermogenesis increases heat in the body to promote an increase in metabolism and the body's ability to burn fat.

The Evolution Full Control product contains the fiber glucomannan - and in this article blood sugar expert, Dr. Mark Hyman, writes, "soluble fiber can help lower cholesterol, blood sugar, and insulin, prevent cancer, balance hormone levels, remove excess estrogen and reduce the risk of breast cancer, make vitamins and minerals, provide food for the colon cells, and more. So it’s easy to see just how crucial soluble fiber is to good heath!"

"Glucomannan is an ancient fiber source that can help you lose weight, lower your cholesterol, reduce your appetite, and lower your blood sugar more effectively than ANY other fiber."

If you, or anyone you know, is struggling with maintaining blood sugar levels at acceptable, healthy levels - please feel free to pass along the information on these two new products. I encourage anyone to scrutinize and discern for themselves, the information provided in the linked articles and this blog.

Many people have already been reaping the benefits of weight loss, lowering cholesterol, and reversing type 2 diabetes with Arbonne Essentials...and Arbonne has raised the bar in health and wellness by provoiding these new EVOLUTIONary pure, safe and beneficial products.

If you want to work on lowering blood sugar on your own - my biggest tip, that worked for me, is to CUT THE GLUTEN/WHEAT and eat lots of green plant based foods! Eliminating most processed foods from your diet is also key to reestablishing healthy blood sugar numbers.

Wishing you the best of health so you can feel great, look great and live great!

Cancer Cure - Discovered in 1931?

I find all kinds of interesting notes when I purge...just came across this one and don't want to risk losing it, so figured I would take a spring cleaning break and post this revelation made over 80 years ago.

"Low levels of cellular oxygen breed cancer- increasing oxygen levels kills cancerous cells. In 1931 Dr. Warburg won a Nobel Prize for proving cancer is caused by lack of oxygen respiration in the cells."

As I read this (no doubt from one of the research papers/books I studied prior to presenting the October cancer prevention workshop)  I can't help but think that if this was realized in 1931, why in the world haven't we made huge leaps and bounds in cancer prevention/cure?

Although the answer is pretty obvious to me...there is no money in finding a cure....cancer is BIG business. But I won't get into that....

There are a couple of easy, natural ways to add oxygen to your cells. Top and foremost in my mind is
1. Consume PLANT based foods. Increasing alkaline, or plant based foods
2. Reduce acidic levels, restoring proper pH to the body. An acidic body lacks oxygen.

Other tips:

  • Stay away from processed foods as much as possible.
  • Sugar and artificial sweeteners, as well as refined process flours deplete oxygen from cells.
  • Animal derived foods fall below neutral pH, i.e. acidic based. Ensure you consume much more plant based foods than animal. (I don't advocate soy, btw, as it has its own issues in regards to promoting health issues.)
An easy way to add oxygen rich foods to your eating plan is by consuming freshly extracted juices and blending smoothies.  If you want to learn more and live in the Cross Plains, Wisconsin area you can come learn more about each method of consuming vegetables and fruits on Sunday, May 4th at 4 p.m. at Crossroads Coffeehouse, 2080 Main St., for the first ever VEGI THROW DOWN.  Bring washed fruits and vegetables and we will make a healthy style wapatui in the juice extractors and blenders we have on hand. The goal is to get the community and peoples from the surrounding area in tune with the benefits of eating healthy.

If you like to hike, meet in the parking lot at 2:30 for a choice of an easy hike alongside the creek, or a more vigourous, but wild flower enhanced hike, at Swamp Lovers, also known as the Table Bluff Segment of the Ice Age Trail. To find it take Hwy. 14 west out of Cross Plains, turn right on KP, and take a left on Scheele Rd. Swamp Lovers/IATA will be on your right side...park alongside the the gravel drive before the gate. Meet on location at 2:45 or car pool from the Crossroads parking lot at 2:30, after dropping your vegis/fruits off inside.

Take a DEEP BREATH for and to your health!
Rita S.
